Robert Hull has extensive experience in financial leadership across private equity, banking, and public service. He served as Partner and Chief Financial Officer at L Catterton and held senior roles at Providence Equity Partners, including Chief Financial Officer and Chief Operating Officer.
Earlier in his career, Robert was Executive Vice President and CFO of GMAC (now Ally Financial), where he also chaired Ally Bank and served on GMAC’s board. He previously held finance leadership positions at Bank of America, Marvel Enterprises, Wise Foods, and Investorforce. Robert also served as Director of Revenue in the Cabinet of the Governor of Rhode Island.
He holds a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Virginia and an M.B.A. from Harvard Business School.
Sean Quinn has over 25 years of experience managing and investing in private companies and is the founding partner of Makers Forward. He began his career at Black & Decker, ultimately leading the $100+ million consumer accessories division before leaving to acquire and grow PowerShot Tool Company, a manufacturer of consumer fastening products. After expanding PowerShot more than fivefold, he successfully sold the business to Masco Corp.
Sean later co-founded IDL Tools, a platform that acquired and grew home improvement product manufacturers. Under his leadership, revenues quadrupled before the company was sold to Stanley Black & Decker in 2018.
He holds a Bachelor of Arts and an M.B.A. from Loyola University Maryland.
Jesse Hermann has held senior executive roles across large global businesses, startups, and advisory firms. His expertise spans manufacturing, distribution, software, and business services. He previously served as a Resource Partner at Court Square Capital and as a Managing Director at Thomas H. Lee Partners.
Earlier in his career, Jesse was a Senior Director at Zolfo Cooper, advising management teams and serving as interim CEO in turnaround situations. He also founded and led icarz, a SaaS distribution management software company (now part of eBay), and served as President and CEO of General Automotive Specialty, North America’s largest manufacturer of automotive, marine, and industrial switches and locks.
Jesse holds an A.B., magna cum laude, from Amherst College and an M.B.A. from the Stanford Graduate School of Business.
Andrew Burchenal has spent more than a decade working at the intersection of manufacturing, operations, and leadership. His experience spans both Fortune 500 corporations and small businesses, giving him a deep appreciation for the operational challenges and opportunities that businesses face at every stage of growth.
Most recently, Andrew managed operations for one of the nation’s largest 4130 and 4340 steel processing facilities where he helped lead initiatives to strengthen operations, grow the business, and build a strong foundation for the future.
Throughout his career, Andrew has been driven by a simple belief: that great businesses are built by empowering people, improving processes, and nurturing long-term relationships. His hands-on leadership style, technical background, and passion for building strong teams form the foundation of Root Composite’s investment approach.
Andrew holds a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Lafayette College.
